In my first year at Northeastern, I took Typography 1 and fell in love. Our final project was to make a book out of the screenplay of a book or movie. A classic and one of my favorites, I choose Forrest Gump. The goal was to make the book's essence and the lyricality of the language in the design.
If you have ever seen Forrest Gump, you will remember the theme of the floating feather. The scene is repeated in both the opening and closing scenes of the movie, meaning it was carried throughout.
I set the text in Bembo, an old-style, delicate and elegant, serif font. To create hierarchy, I played with tracking. The choice in Bembo and the tracking effect resembled the soft airiness of the feather inspiration.
