For my Capstone project I decided to make a book about my mother’s coffee table. My parents’ house is extremely orderly and minimal with the exception of the 4 x 10-ft coffee table in their living room. The coffee table is piled high with everything from animal skulls to handwritten letters. This book is a compilation of the many adventures and tales that landed these objects a place on my mother’s beloved coffee table, meant to humor, amuse or interest those that find themselves on my mother’s couch.
Unable to document every piece due to time constraints, I settled on 35 of my favorite stories. The playful tone my writing expressed inspired the crude collage design of the book. The photography and design accentuate the commemorative intention for the book. Hand bound with love.
